Here is your first look at our new Orlando shelter!

This brand new 25,000 square foot space will allow for:
  • Double the medical space to care for ill or injured animals – including the largest shelter medical unit in Florida
  • Disease specific quarantine space for dogs and cats to  reduce the potential for disease transmission.
  • Modern shelter space with air conditioning for dogs and cats
  • Flexible space for Pet Alliance to evolve and grow in the future

Construction began in November 2024 with an expected completion date of early 2026.

January 2025
Land clearing was completed and the footprint of the campus became visible from John Young Parkway.

January 2025
Foundational dirt was brought in and used to level the construction site.

February 2025
Plumbing was installed on the property, paving the way for future clean kennels and fresh bowls of water!

March 2025
Concrete foundation was poured for the building, outlining the location of shelter areas like our medical space and play yards.

April 2025
Our construction site is currently in the horizontal phase. Soon the concrete and insulation seen on the ground will be raised vertical and become walls.

May 2025
Our new shelter is looking more like a building these days. We reached a vertical milestone this month and now have walls.
 
June / July 2025
The roof installation allows us to begin to “see” the layout of our new shelter. Such an important (and visual) step in the ALMOST HOME process! 
 
August 2025
After the roof installation it allowed us to begin interior framing, which will then lead to insulation, drywall, ventilation system, wiring, and more!
 
September / October 2025
Here’s a sneak-peek down a hallway where you can see drywall, windows, ventilation system, wiring, and more happening!
It’s so incredible to see our new shelter interior progress. 
 

November 2025
New Shelter progress that will make you purr! The exterior catio has been installed!
Please use your imagination and visualize future felines lounging outside before finding their forever homes!

December 2025
We are delighted with all the progress at our new shelter. Recent developments include window awnings and canopies, electrical work, flooring, tiling, and so much more! Your continued support has been instrumental in enabling us to reach this milestone.
 

January 2026
It’s 2026 – the year we move into our New Shelter!
We’re excited to see concrete curbs outside, which means the parking lot will be here soon! Other milestones that are making us smile: dog kennels are being installed, washers and dryers have arrived, and the impressive shelter medical suite is nearing completion!

February 2026
Our South John Young Parkway address numbers: “4311” are on the building! Finishing touches inside and out are happening at our new shelter! 

We are SO CLOSE to a GRAND OPENING of a lifesaving shelter where animals heal, feel safe, and meet the families who will love them! Pets are more than animals—they’re best friends, companions, and family members—and this new shelter will help future families find theirs.
