ABOUT

Giving DAY

2020 has been a challenging year for so many people in so many ways. At Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, we continue to work hard to ensure that all the animals in our care are healthy, safe and have the opportunity to find their new forever home.

On September 29, YOU can come to the RESCUE for the dogs, cats, and pet owners in our community! Not only will your gift directly help the animals and people who need it most, but every dollar you donate will be DOUBLED and help TWICE as much thanks to a generous match by the Sherry Chappell Cooper Foundation!

This special day will feature creative content like our puppy and kitty cams, local celebrity spotlights, and more on your television and online. You’re are invited to get involved with this can help ensure that Pet Alliance will have the resources it needs to care for thousands of dogs and cats. Whether your help comes through as a donation or sharing our giving match — we thank you for advocating for homeless pets in your community.

We also recognized that some of our neighbors need some extra help feeding their pets and getting basic veterinary care. As an organization, we can address these needs as well as our daily operations because of the generosity of our donors.

MEDIA PARTNER

In partnership with WFTV Channel 9 on Tuesday, September 29, we’ll be broadcasting rescue stories that were made possibly by the support of Central Florida’s pet lovers. Our work is never finished, as there is always more need — so we ask that you join us in saving the lives of the thousands of dogs and cats who will turn to Pet Alliance for compassion and care this year.

WFTV 9 Family Connection is the community outreach arm of WFTV- Channel 9 in Orlando, Florida. As a part of Cox Media Group, WFTV 9 Family Connection is dedicated to sharing on-air and online resources with local non-profits that make a difference in our Central Florida community.

PRESENTER

KARLA RAY

WFTV Anchor and Investigative Reporter
Animal Advocate

Animal welfare has been part of Karla Ray’s life since she can remember.  Growing up on a farm in Iowa, there was always room for one more stray or shelter pet, and the WFTV Anchor and Investigative Reporter has loved dozens of those extended family members since she was a child.

Now, with two rescue dogs of her own, her partnership with Pet Alliance as a volunteer and advocate is a natural fit.  In addition to serving as emcee for Pet Alliance’s largest fundraiser Furball in years 2016, 2018 and 2019, she launched #FureverFriday in 2017, featuring PAGO dogs once a week on social media to break the stigma often associated with shelter pets.

She has also served as a judge in various pet costume contests, and her rescue Shih Tzu Emmy nagged 3rd place in the 2019 My Best Friend wine label contest with PAGO partner Quantum Leap.  She is thrilled to play a role in Giving Day and hopes you will ADOPT, not shop!
