Jasper and Alice Visit the Pet Alliance

Do you remember Jasper and Alice? In August of 2013, they came to us, along with 26 other dogs rescued from a hoarding case in Altamonte Springs. The two had never had a life outside of the small crate they were kept in.

Executive Director Kerri Burns and Volunteer Cece Weldon are reunited with Jasper and Alice.

They were used solely for breeding. When they first arrived, they had never seen grass, were too afraid to be touched by humans, and didn’t even know what a toy was. After more than four months of rehabilitation and tireless work from our staff and volunteers, Jasper and Alice went up for adoption.

A couple, Mike and Sue, came in to adopt a dog. The two live in a fifth wheel RV and travel around the country. They needed a smaller dog as a companion for Penny, the pup they had at home. Our staff and volunteers immediately thought of Jasper and Alice, but did not want them to be adopted out separately.

After a long conversation, Mike and Sue were almost convinced to adopt them both. They decided to think it over and come back a few days later. Because they lived so far away, Pet Alliance staff were afraid they wouldn’t make the long trip back. Just a few days later, Mike and Sue were back to adopt Jasper and Alice.

At first Jasper and Alice were hesitant. They weren’t quite sure how to be dogs. With a lot of patience, Mike and Sue have helped them recover and become a part of the family. They love to lay on the couch and the bed with Mike and Sue, and have become true lap dogs. They are still incredibly affectionate with one another, always sharing kisses. And, they love to take showers!

The most exciting part of jasper and Alice’s new lives is that they are able to travel around the country with their people and their sister, Penny. They have already been to Chicago, the mountains of North Carolina, and even Mt. Rushmore! We were so happy when these traveling companions came to visit and remembered their roots, even though they’re living the high life now! Congratulations to Jasper, Alice, Penny, Mike, and Sue!
