New Executive Director

SteveBardyThe nearly 80-year old Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando, formerly the SPCA of Central Florida, is proud to introduce Stephen Bardy as its new Executive Director. Stephen joins the Pet Alliance after nearly 20 years with the Children’s Home Society of Florida where he served in various roles including Executive Director of the Palm Beach Division and most recently as Vice President of Operations.

Steve has implemented numerous award-winning programs for youth in foster care as well as life enrichment activities. Completely understanding the connection to pets as family members, he worked with local partners to provide pet therapy as a treatment tool in working with youth in shelters and group homes.

His outstanding success in grant writing has resulted in more than $14 million in funding including a $6 million grant to provide mentors to youth with incarcerated parents.

Before joining the Children’s Home Society, Steve worked as a public health educator for the Department of Children and Families.

Steve earned a Masters in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of South Florida, and has many years of executive and fundraising experience. He is a graduate of Leadership Palm Beach County, has served on two national boards for homeless youth and mentoring, and is extremely proud to have served as Co-Chair of National Adoption Day for five years.

“I have been blessed to have shared my life with dogs that were once living in shelters. I am excited to be part of this community’s long standing animal welfare history. Together we can continue the amazing pet services and strengthen our community partnerships so that we can end pet homelessness. Steve currently shares his life with his partner, Jay, and two amazing pets — Milo, his rather talkative schnauzer, and his gentle mixed breed, Sophie. He is an avid, lifelong Miami Dolphins fan and enjoys bowling, traveling, and story time with Milo.
