Help Pet Alliance Care for Dogs Displaced by Hurricane Helene

Five dogs are safe and sound with Pet Alliance after being rescued from the path of Hurricane Helene

As the storm approaches the state, a massive effort has taken place to relocate shelter pets residing in a vulnerable area of Florida’s Panhandle.

Pet Alliance is proud to assist in this remarkable endeavor, a feat we could not accomplish without your help!

With only a few days’ notice, organizations across the state sprang into action to coordinate relief for dogs residing at Madison County Animal Services.

The shelter, located in the Florida Panhandle, is in the direct path of what will become a Category 4 hurricane. The kennel space the dogs were occupying was outdoors and not equipped to protect the pets from incoming severe weather.

Yesterday, Pet Alliance received five of the dogs after a long journey south. The pets are now settling into their new, cozy accommodations while we wait for the storm to pass. Afterwards, they will be made available for adoption through our Sanford shelter.

Due to Hurricane Milton, all Pet Alliance locations will close to the public at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9th.
