Virtual Pet Adoptions now Available!

In light of COVID-19 and subsequent shelter closures, Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando is branching out with our new Virtual Adoption opportunity!

Conducted through the Zoom app, virtual meet and greet are designed to introduce potential adopters to a pet currently in our care at our shelters, as well as those currently in Foster Care.

What to Expect

To set up a virtual meet and greet, simply follow the contact instructions on a shelter pet’s adoption profile located at the bottom of their page (link below).

Shelter staff or a Pet Alliance Volunteer who are currently fostering will inform the adopters of any specific requirements regarding the dog or cat. To see if the pet you’re interested in is a good fit, some questions they will ask are: Do you have other pets? Do you have children either in the home or that visit a lot? Do you have breed or pet restrictions where they live?

And, of course, they will give you as much time within your appointment to see and interact with the pet!

Pet listings are updated in real-time. All adoptions are first come, first served. Foster parents interested in having a dog or cat in their care listed for Virtual Adoption, please reach out to your shelter location’s foster care coordinator.

Adopt Then and There!

If the dog or cat is deemed a good match and you’re ready to adopt your next furry friend, then adoption can happen then and there!

A staff member will be in contact the following day to go through the rest of the adoption process and go through the medical information on the pet. We are able to take a credit card over the phone or you can pay with cash at pick-up.

Each adoption includes: spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, FIV/FeLV/Heartworm testing, and flea/heartworm prevention. Some adoptions will also include other medical care if the animal has a more detailed medical history.

  • Adult dogs 1 year and older – $75
  • Adult dogs 1 year and older under 24 pounds – $125
  • Puppies 6 months to year – $250
  • Puppies under 6 months – $350
  • Adults cats over 6 months – $50
  • Kittens under 6 months – $100

Curbside Pick-Up

Once a shelter staff member has reached out to confirm your adoption and have discussed payment, they will work to schedule pick up.

Foster parents will drop off the pet at either our shelter in Orlando or Sanford for the adopter. There will be curbside pick-up, so adopters won’t have to leave their vehicle. The whole curbside adoption process will be explained to adopters over the phone while scheduling their pick up day and time.

Cats will be placed in cardboard carriers and dogs will be on a leash and escorted to your vehicle. Adopters picking up a dog should have their own collar and leash ready at pick up, or you can inquire about including a collar and leash in the adoption price from our shelter store. All purchase go back to the shelter.
